Ever since the release of the debut EP, Rebel Music, in 2011, Kabaka Pyramid has been one of the most hyped names of the Jamaican as well as international reggae scene. Last year, his long-awaited debut album, Kontraband, landed in which Kabaka co-operates with, among others, Damian Marley and Chronixx, and Sunday.

Keron "Kabaka Pyramid" Salmon has his roots in the reggae genre's Kingston, and is a key person in Bebble Rock Studios, where he writes and produces for himself and a sea of young reggae artists. "Kabaka" is Ugandan for "King" and the singer's desire to leave spiritual and social conscious messages to future generations is deeply inspired by the ability of the Egyptian pyramids to deliver messages for thousands of years.

The passion for music began at an early age for Kabaka Pyramid, who as a young boy rewrote the lyrics into popular songs and dubbed them on his mother's tape recorder. Reggae has always had a tremendous influence on the Kingston-based poet, where artists such as Sizzla Kalongi and Peter Tosh have been a great source of spiritual nourishment in his life. Throughout high school, hip hop became an important part of Kabaka's musical compass, where the inspiration of socially conscious rappers like Canibus, Nas and Common have contributed to his fusion of the two styles.
